NWEM Officer Elections
A message from the president:
August 2008
NWEM elections are around the corner and we are still looking for members who are interested in contributing their leadership skills to the organization. Being an officer of Northwest Enterprising Moms is extremely rewarding as you will get to know and provide leadership to many members who are impacting our community with innovative products and services! These individuals will have an opportunity to grow their network, the organization, and bring awareness to local and national consumers the power of balance in business and motherhood.
Currently Angie Williams is the only person that has been nominated for a position - NWEM Vice President. She is currently the secretary of the organization so we are holding elections for the secretary position.
Per our boards members request, I will stay on as Past President, which means that we will be holding elections for a President Elect. This means that the president will have access to me for direction and any questions or assistance that they may have during the year -- she won’t have to go it alone.
I have also written up a list of volunteer positions to make the whole organization run a lot more smoothly without one person taking on the majority of the duties, I will be sending this out in a separate email.

Secretary: Currently held by Angie Williams -

Members Running:
Description: The Secretary shall have charge of such books, documents and papers as the Board of Directors may determine. The Secretary shall attend and keep the minutes of all meetings of the Board and the members of the corporation. The Secretary shall prepare and circulate those minutes to the members as appropriate. The Secretary shall see that all notices are give in accordance with applicable law, the Association’s articles of incorporation and these bylaws. The Secretary shall keep a record of containing the names, alphabetically arranged, of all members of the Association, showing the mailing addresses of each, and such books shall be open for inspection as prescribed by law. The Secretary may sign with the President or Vice President in the name and on behalf of the Association, any contracts or agreements authorized by the Board. The Secretary shall, in general perform all duties incident to the office of the Secretary, subject to control of the Board, and shall do and perform such other duties as may be signed to the Secretary by the Board.
Treasurer: Currently held by Colleen Butler

Description
The Treasurer is responsible for keeping the financial records of NWEM. This includes paying bills, depositing checks, and monitoring NWEM bank accounts and Pay Pal accounts. The Treasurer works closely with the Secretary and Membership Committee and keeps updated records of Membership dues. The Treasurer also works closely with the President and Events Committee in planning NWEM events and monitoring financial expenditures for the events.

Description:
Have a thorough understanding on what it means to be a Northwest Enterprising Mom and the spirit of this organization, its mission, vision and values. Be an advocate and spokes person for the organization. At times you may be required to give public speech or interviews for media. Follow the Bylaws as currently written. She will be actively involved with the Past President and President Elect when needed to assist various tasks, brainstorming and making decisions about the organization. Meet with the board and officers to discuss the direction for NWEM.
Be available to plan events with the committee chairs.

Description: The President Elect will work closely with the Past President throughout the year to continue Northwest Enterprising Moms mission, vision and value which is to promote, network, mentor and educate our members. She will adhere to the bylaws as currently written and work closely with board members when needed to make decisions about the future of the organization. The President Elect will make connections with the members by listening to their needs and concerns and be a mentor and advocate of their businesses. The President Elect may be called for interviews or public speaking at events or with the media. She will work closely with the officers and board members providing leadership and assistance when called upon.

Past President: Currently held by Kelly Sharples

Description: The Past President will work closely with the President Elect throughout the year to continue Northwest Enterprising Moms mission, vision and value which is to promote, network, mentor and educate our members. She will adhere to the bylaws as currently written and work closely with board members when needed to make decisions about the future of the organization.
